Video Tutorial: Project Navigation
Overview
- LightStanza viewer navigation tutorial covers navigation modes, settings, and controls for both 2D and 3D environments.
- 2D vs 3D mode toggling can be done using the lamp icon on the control bar or hotkey T.
- Select Mode is the default navigation mode, optimized for a three-button mouse, mirroring standard CAD software. In Select Mode,
- Left mouse button is for element selection, while click-and-drag allows for lasso selection of multiple elements.
- Middle button functions as panning when held down and zooming when scrolling, enhancing user control.
- Right-click opens a context menu with various edit tools depending on the selected object type.
- Orbit Mode and Look Around Mode provide alternative navigation options in 3D, enabling different perspectives.
- Interior 3D view creation demonstrated by selecting elements from the Lighting Plan and fixing the camera position.
- Default navigation mode can be set in User settings and toggled in the navigation mode selector for flexibility.
- Zoom to fit function quickly returns users to the default 3D exterior building view from any position.
Notes
Navigation Overview (00:00 - 00:53)
- LightStanza viewer navigation tutorial covering different navigation modes, settings, and controls for 2D and 3D environments.
- 2D vs 3D mode toggle available through lamp icon on top viewer control bar or hotkey T to switch between modes.
- Navigation controls behave differently between 2D and 3D views but follow consistent patterns throughout the interface.
Select Mode (Default Navigation) (00:53 - 02:30)
- Select Mode serves as default navigation mode, consistent with standard CAD software and requires three-button mouse with working keyboard.
- Left mouse button used for selecting individual model elements and surfaces, with click-and-drag lasso selection for multiple elements.
- Middle button/scroll wheel enables panning when held down and zooming when rolled like scrolling.
- Right click button opens context menu with options for selected items and various edit tools depending on object type.
- Right mouse button hold enables orbiting in 3D view or becomes pan tool in 2D plan view.
Alternative Navigation Modes (02:30 - 04:51)
- Orbit mode overrides left mouse button behavior for orbiting, with middle scroll wheel for zooming and right mouse button for panning in 2D/3D.
- Look Around mode (first-person mode) available in 3D only, rotates camera around fixed point like turning head, with no middle or right button functionality.
- Interior 3D view creation demonstrated by selecting calculation grid from Lighting Plan view and clicking 'view location in 3D' to drop camera at cursor position.
- Pan mode assigns left mouse button to panning in 2D/3D, middle button for zooming, and right mouse button for orbiting in 3D only.
- Zoom mode makes left mouse button behave like scroll wheel for zooming in/out, with right click for panning in 2D/3D.
️ Settings and Additional Features (6:30 - End)
- Default navigation mode can be set in User settings under User icon or toggled as needed in navigation mode selector.
- Navigation mode selector provides hover cheat sheet showing control behaviors for default select mode.
- Camera button on left-hand modeling toolbar allows saving viewpoints for quick recall to preferred facade positions.
- Zoom to fit function returns user to default 3D exterior building view from any navigation position.
